Religion in Assam

Assam is the most populous state in Northeast India and has a diverse population with followers of many religions and communities. According to the 2011 census, out of the population of 3.12 crore, around 1.92 crore (61.47%) identified as Hindus, 1.06 crore (34.22%) as Muslims or followers of Islam, and 10.68 lakhs (3.74%) as Christians. Additionally, 0.16% stated no religion, and 0.42% followed other religions.
