Hinduism in India
At the 2011 census, out of a population of 1.21 billion, just over 966 million (79.80%) identified themselves as followers of the Hindu religion. Hinduism is the predominant religion in India, with more than nine out of ten Hindus worldwide residing in the country. Outside of India, the largest Hindu populations are in Nepal and Bangladesh. By 2024, it is estimated that approximately 1.1 billion people in India will be followers of Hinduism.
